Taking the low carb diet on the road is a skill. You can't live only on low carb burgers. If you skip the ketchup, you'd save even more carbs. I spent time combing through people’s various entries of what restaurants were low carb and what wasn’t. Don’t expect employees at the restaurant to know. Here’s some suggestions:
Breakfast Diners (Denny’s, IHOP, Cracker Barrel) You can ‘t go wrong with bacon and eggs.
Steak Houses- most offer a plain steak with steamed veggies. I usually go to Logans since they offer grilled veggies.

Sit Down Burger Places- you can get your burger w/o the bun. A side salad is a nice replacement for fries.
Applebee’s/O’Charley’s have a light fare menu that has a chicken breast or steak with veggies.
Seafood- grilled fish, lobster, crab legs and scallops are great picks as long as they aren’t swimming in sauce. Butter is fine. Skip the bread and enjoy a salad and vegetable.

KFC has a two piece grilled chicken meal with two sides. (Green beans and cole slaw are acceptable. Ditch the biscuit.)
Remember how many carbs an item has and you can be creative. I like the taco salad at Steak and Shake w/o the tortilla strips.
Some places you might want to pass by because there is very little you can eat such as Mexican and Italian restaurant. Carnitas (seasoned pork) often has zero carbs. It is hard to know exactly how many carbs is in a meal if you don’t fix it yourself. Truthfully, you are guessing. It is best to go higher, instead of lower.

Next Week: I’ll address what to do when you’re stuck at a conference where there isn’t a single veggie in sight.
