I’m grateful for the weight I lost going low-carb, but I didn’t care for the soft, saggy bits. The loose skin underneath my arms was the biggest age tell on my body, even worse than my hands and neck. My goal was to firm up my arms for the summer and I went at it a couple of ways.
First was free weights and weight machines at the gym. Often, I’d walk on my home treadmill with two pounds weights in my hands. My goal was to walk for thirty minutes every day. Needless to say, I didn’t always do it. I needed discipline and someone to yell at me.
The biggest change in my arms came from TRX, which is a suspension system of straps. You exercise using your own body weight, which for me was a great deal more than the two-pound hand weight. The photo is a professional, not me. The first time I tried it, I got my shoes stuck in the straps because I shove them in wrong. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Everything did help, but my arms were not Michelle-worthy yet. I needed tightening. Maybe an herbal wrap would do it. Sure, you’ve heard of those sold by friends or at local fairs that are supposed to work wonders. I dropped $50 for three wraps. The green wraps were only about a foot wide, which did not go around my belly, even if I used two. Following the instructions, I wrapped myself in Saran Wrap and slept in the patch. I sweated some, but no real miracle in the morning. The only benefit was softer skin after I scrubbed for at least ten minutes trying to rid my skin of the adhesive. Disappointing.
Still, I hadn’t totally given up the idea yet. Out gym started offering herbal wraps were you were wrapped mummy-like in Ace bandages soaked in clay and herbs. The Tangerine Promise was you’d lose six inches your first session. I lost almost nine inches the first session.
When I went in for my second session, I retained the same measurements from the last session at the start, then lost another six inches. It’s a long process that takes between two-three hours and involves prep work to get the full benefit. It does work.
